I need help understanding this question and what all took place to create the ‘global phenomenon’ that immigration created during the late 1800′s.

the idea or the promise of a better life in industrialized nations became something that lower class people sought for.
in certain areas of the globe, famine and political rights were things immigrants were running away from.
People chasing after the American dream.
- increased mobility/mass transportation made possible by new inventions (steam locomotives & steam boats)
- industrial revolution brought massive socioeconomic change
- end of American civil war made people want to live in North America (the American Dream, new opportunity for poor people in other countries)
